Originally built in Doncaster in 1923 with a length of 70 feet and a weight of 97 tonnes, “The Flying Scotsman” was officially the first locomotive to reach 100mph.

Named after the London – Edinburgh service which started daily at 10am, it was the first locomotive to circumnavigate the globe and holds the World Record for a non-stop run in a steam locomotive, set in 1989 with a 422 mile trip.
